About Me
Like many, I came to yoga to heal an injury and quickly discovered benefits that went beyond the average gym workout. I was surprised to discover yoga to be active and strengthening, and that it had an immediate positive effect on many broader aspects of my life. Yoga made me feel healthy, seemingly dissolved nervous energy, improved my digestion and circulation, and fostered peace of mind. Over time I stopped comparing myself to others, honed my ability to focus, and felt able to weather challenges calmly.
Yoga has since become an anchor in my life and helps me to live in a more centred way. I love how the method can be adapted for different moments, that the community is warm and kind, and that it is open to and inclusive of all bodies.
After several years attending a mix of yoga classes, I discovered the Iyengar method of hatha yoga and this has been the mainstay of my practice ever since. I am grateful to have learnt from an incredible network of Iyengar teachers. Detailed teaching of alignment and longer holds in poses allowed me to have a deeper understanding of each posture and ultimately enabled me to take ownership of my practice. These are qualities I always try to share with my own students now.
I trained to teach with Simon Low at The Yoga Academy, which is influenced by TKV Desikachar and BKS Iyengar. The YA integrates authentic yoga wisdom and philosophy with current medical research and understanding of anatomy. I am qualified to the standards of the British Wheel of Yoga.
I teach at yoga studios, Neals Yard Remedies and private group sessions at The Engine House. Previously I provided virtual corporate sessions for a City Council as part of their Wellbeing at Work programme, and I have worked with the British Wheel of Yoga to curate virtual yoga festivals ‘A Winter Day’ and ‘International Day of Yoga – A Celebration’. I have written for and been featured in independent magazines and online publications.
I continue to further my knowledge through my own practice, study and teaching.
